Gunns Plains is a fertile valley in Tasmania’s North West, dotted with dairy farms, potato fields, beef cattle and even a vineyard. The Leven River winds through the valley, offering a peaceful spot for trout fishing, canoeing and kayaking.
One of the area’s standout attractions is Gunns Plains Caves, where underground chambers are filled with limestone formations including calcite shawls and flowstones. The cave is also home to glow-worms, with guided tours available daily.
Nearby Wings Wildlife Park is home to one of Tasmania’s largest collections of wildlife, where visitors can get up close to a wide range of native and exotic animals.
