Wilmot is a small rural township located in a mountainous region about 40 minutes south-west of Devonport and is the last stop before Cradle Mountain. The town was settled in the 1890s and is rich in pioneering history. Today, Wilmot is known for its cheese and butter production and also for potato farming.
Also of interest is the Wilmot Museum and Information Centre. The museum is housed in a building originally built as a school and church back in 1897 and holds a huge collection of historical artefacts, memorabilia and tools relating to the history of Wilmot and the neighbouring areas.
