6 Pet Friendly Stays

Hey there, fellow dog lovers! Planning a trip to Northwest Tasmania with your furry friend? We’ve got some great suggestions for pet-friendly stays.

From cosy cabin-style accommodation to a luxe boutique hotel feel with all the amenities, there’s something for everyone. We’ve got a beachside shack for salty dogs and a simple bed and breakfast too.

No matter what you’re after, we’re confident there’s something in this post to tickle your and your doggo’s fancy.

And once you’re settled in, there’s no shortage of things to do. You can trek forest paths, explore the many beaches on the North West Coast, or visit one of the many wineries in the region. Your dog will love running around in the fresh air and exploring all the new smells.

So what are you waiting for? Let’s dive in!

1. Hawley House – Hawley Beach

Hawley House is a pet-friendly bed and breakfast located in the heart of the North West. The house is surrounded by bushland with private bushwalking trails, making it a great place to explore with your furry friend. Hawley House also has a large garden where your pet can run around and play, and there’s a beautiful dog-friendly beach at the bottom of the garden. Hawley House owners are dog lovers and will be happy to make sure your pet is comfortable and living their best vacay life during your stay.

 2. Madsen Retreat – Penguin

Madsen Retreat is a pet-friendly guest house in the idyllic beachside village of Penguin. The owners welcome furry friends but prefer smaller to medium-sized pets that are house pets, well toilet-trained, and friendly.

Penguin is centrally located between the towns of Burnie and Ulverstone, which means your doggo will have plenty of great places to walk, sniff, and explore.

No matter what you and your doggo choose to do, you’ll both have a great time at Madsen Retreat.

3. Sisters Beach House – Sisters Beach

Sisters Beach House is a stylish vintage beach house (shack) located just 40 meters from the beach inside Rocky Cape National Park on Tasmania’s sparkling northwest coast.

Its proximity to the beach makes it the perfect spot for you and your pup to get in some exercise and enjoy a refreshing dip in the ocean. Sisters Beach boasts a stunning white sandy beach, and like nearby Boat Harbour, the water is often a beautiful turquoise blue.

There are several dog-designated areas, and dogs are allowed off-leash all year round on the exercise beach. However, be aware that dogs have limited access to the beach between Stockdale Ave. and Honeysuckle Ave. during the summer months.

Please note that nearby Rocky Cape National Park is accessible to humans only and, therefore, off-limits to our four-legged friends.

Here are a few suggestions for activities that you and your doggo can enjoy at Sisters Beach:

No matter what you and your doggo choose to do, you’re guaranteed a great time at Sisters Beach House.

4. Platypus Waters B&B – Smithton

Platypus Waters B&B is a pet-friendly bed and breakfast located in Smithton in the far northwest of Tasmania. The apartment is private and self-contained, so you and your furry friend can have space to relax and unwind.
