Overview

Nestled on King Island’s eastern coastline, Grassy is a small coastal township known for its rugged coastline, wildlife and active mining industry.

Home to the Grassy Scheelite Mine, the town continues to play an important role in King Island’s economy and identity, with mining forming a significant part of the local community and landscape.

Visitors can enjoy dramatic ocean views, scenic coastal drives, fishing and nearby walking opportunities, while at dusk the coastline becomes a popular spot to see Little Penguins returning to shore after a day at sea.

Combining industry, wildlife and authentic island character, Grassy offers a unique glimpse into life on King Island.
