Lake Burbury

Overview

Lake Burbury is an absolute gem on Tasmania’s west coast, offering some of the best fishing and boating spots around! Surrounded by the stunning Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park, this lake is the perfect place to cast a line for trout or take your boat out to explore the peaceful, pristine waters. Lake Burbury is regarded by anglers as one of the top fishing destinations in Tasmania!

Hydro Tasmania has made it super easy to get out on the water with three boat ramps around the lake, including one at Thureau Hills. Plus, if you’re planning to stick around, there’s a great, free campground at Darwin Dam on the southern end of the lake. Whether you’re after a relaxing day fishing or an adventure on the water, Lake Burbury is the place to be!

Here in Tasmania, our lakes don’t just offer stunning scenery; they’re also the powerhouse of our renewable energy… hydropower! Lake Burbury is a perfect example, where breathtaking views meet sustainable energy generation. To keep everyone safe, always check Hydro Tasmania’s safety signs, as water conditions can change quickly!
